Dwain Briggs | The multi-talented Dwain Briggs is most widely known for his ethereal, bel canto vocals on Echoes of a Modern God, Michael Hoppe's Requiem and the Grammy nominated Solace. The unique impact of Dwain's voice and music in opening the heart and creating a safe space has made him an integral part of transformational events worldwide. He has shared the stage with many best selling authors including Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, Gregg Braden, Doreen Virtue, Marianne Williamson, Louise Hay, Dannion Brinkley, Alan Cohen and James Redfield. |
Carolynn Conley |
Carolynn Conley, Licensed Unity Teacher, is our Spiritual Leader. Carolynn also directs our Sunday School program. She has been accepted as a candidate for licensing and ordination as a Unity minister by the ministerial and religious studies program at Unity Institute. When she is not at our church or studying at Unity Village, Carolynn can usually be found at NASA performing her duties as a Payload Integration Engineer. Her position at NASA frequently sends her around the globe following the space shuttle. |
Anne Sermons Gillis |
Anne is a frequent speaker at our church, and travels extensively as a spiritual teacher. She espouses "EZosophy" and has performed workshops at Unity on this life-altering teaching involved with this approach to quality living. Anne is an international speaker, minister, author, breathworker and personal growth coach. As a spiritual seeker Anne has traveled around the world in her quest to live life to the fullest. Her work is sincere, but not serious. Anne contends that life is not as hard as we make it; it is time to lighten up and enjoy. |
Kay Hornsby |
Kay Hornsby is Director of The Lighthouse at Sandcastle, a healing and retreat center. She is a holistic health care practioner specializing in energy work. Ms. Hornsby has a M.Ed. degree and is a member of the American Holistic Nurses' Association. She has studied and received certification in various healing modalities, including Reiki. |
| Frieda King | A Graduate of the University of Houston, Frieda King is a Licensed Unity Counselor and Teacher since 1990. She is also a Spiritual Coach. Along with her coaching and speaking, Frieda serves two Unity Churches: Rev. Howard Caesar's in Houston, and The Circle of Light Fellowship in The Woodlands. She is a staff counselor and Senior Group Coordinator at Unity Church in Houston. She is the Prayer ministry leader and gives Sunday Services at the Circle of Light Unity Church in The Woodlands. In Houston, she has served as the spiritual voice of the daily thought on the Church Voice of Inspiration line. She has also served as the Spiritual Leader of the Conroe Unity Church, which evolved into the Circle of Light Fellowship Unity Church in the Woodlands. Frieda completed the Science of Mind courses with Dr. Tom Johnson in the mid 1970's. |
| Don Levit | Don Levit has worked in life and health insurance sales since 1980. The last few years, he has been consulting, mostly with individuals and organizations over the web. He attends the Chabad of Sugar Land (a mystical orthodox Jewish organization), as well as Thoreau Unitarian Unversalist Congregation in Stafford. |
| Jim Miles | Jim Miles is a former Jesuit, a writer, teacher, spiritual inspirer, and a professional speaker. His "odyssey of the heart" continues to lead him to many exotic as well as sacred places throughout the world. |
Shannon Modrell | Shannon's musical mission in life is to share with others songs that encourage, uplift, and inspire us to know the true value of our place in the world, the true beauty of our essence. Whether about a joyous celebration of life or a soothing message to get someone through a rough time, the songs she sings are tools for self awareness, growth, and healing. Her music celebrates our connection to our divine nature, each other and our planet. |
| Jerry Roberts | Jerry is currently a counselor at Spring Oaks Middle School. He has a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Psychology from Texas A&M and a Master's degree in theology from SMU. He is an ordained Methodist minister who has been in Unity for many years. He sings at a number of public venues and we have enjoyed his musical talent on several occasions. |
| Ruth Seeliger | Ruth Seeliger is a Reiki Master and teacher practicing in Houston, Texas. She is the widow of Reverend Wes Seeliger, an Episcopal priest, founder and the first Executive Director of the Foundation for Contemporary Theology. Ruth graduated from Swarthmore College, which was instrumental in helping her to establish a solid base to build her future on. Spending 19 years at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston as a Patient-Care Coordinator, she accumulated a wealth of experiences to draw from. A lay teacher and musician in the traditional Christian churches, she found new directions in the early 80's which led her to the more metaphysical aspects of her faith. Having studied numerous modalities of healing, she is certified by Universal Holistic Healers Association. She has conducted classes on meditation, healing, and spirituality at prominent Houston area churches, including St. Frances Episcopal, St. Paul's Methodist, and Christ Church Cathedral. With Ruth's busy schedule, she still finds space to concentrate on teaching Reiki and participating as an active board member of the Foundation for Contemporary Theology, helping to keep her husband's work moving forward. Her most recent vision is to create a multi-ethnic-racial-religious silent meditation group, which could have worldwide scope. |
Denice St. John | Denice is an ordained Minister of United Church of Religious Science, part of the New Thought movement shared with Unity. She was co-founder and Minister of New Vision Science of Mind in Clear Lake Area. Denice is also our beloved music director and the leader of our choir. |
Todd Silva | Todd Silva is a Houston based songwriter in the genre of inspirational folk. His musical experience includes choral and quartet ensembles, pop/rock bands, solo projects, and featured performances at children's hospitals, retirement homes, and Alzheimer centers. Todd also is the creator of the "Give Away a Dollar a Day" project. |
| Mike Stackhouse | Mike has been involved with Unity since 1987. He is a native Houstonian. Mike has a B.A. degree at Sam Houston State University, and has worked in sales and marketing in Houston for 17 years. About 13 years ago he started teaching in the Houston Independent School District. Mike is now at Waltrip High School teaching U.S. History and economics. He is married with one daughter, two sons, and three step sons. |
Rev. Jerry Stefaniak | Rev. Jerome Stefaniak is a teacher who instructs adults in how to have higher self-esteem, how to discover and live their vision, and how to achieve both outer success and inner tranquility. After graduating from the University of Illinois with a BS in Accounting, Jerry took his graduate work at De Paul University, earning an MBA in Systems Analysis in 1978. He successfully pursued a career in Computer Systems Development. In 1985 Jerry began a program of personal development which led him into a new career: sharing with others the principles and techniques he had successfully learned to apply in his own life. Since then, he has taught many workshops on personal development both in Texas and Washington. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Unity Church of Clear Lake, functioning as its Youth Education Director. |
| Rev. LaVern Watters | LaVern Watters is a native Texan who has lived off and on in the Houston area for the past 29 years. Currently, she and her husband Jon live in Tomball. Rev. LaVern writes a bi-weekly inspirational email known as 'Breadcrumbs' and offers spiritual counseling and other ministerial services by appointment. | Mary Jane White | Mary Jane White is managing partner of Wellness Works and is the previous Director of the Mind/Body Medical Institute at Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Houston, Texas. She has a B.A. in Spanish/English, an M.S. in Studies of the Future, and an M.S.W. in social work from the University of Houston. Mary Jane's passion is to mentor, teach and train people to function at their highest level of wellness and to help organizations become well places to work. She helps people to be proactive in prevention and wellness, to choose careers and avocations that support their goals, and to focus on becoming a healthy mind in a healthy body with a healthy attitude. |
| Dolores Zamora | Dolores Zamora has been a Science of Mind practitioner, spiritual counselor, teacher and speaker for over 20 years. She began studying the principles taught by Unity and Science of Mind in 1976 at the Science of Mind church in League City. Dolores successfully applies the New Thought principles in her business as a real estate broker. She is a licensed professional Science of Mind practitioner, counseling and teaching accredited class work. She has been Director of Education at her church in Houston and was also a fill-in speaker and interim ecclesiastical leader during the time the church was without a minister. Dolores continues to teach and counsel on an independent basis as well as speak at various Unity and Science of Mind churches. |
